Macaw Mountain

We managed an outing this afternoon and went to Macaw Mountain an Aviary and Macaw rehabilitation centre. It was a beautiful spot with trails lush with trees and vines a babbling brook  and mixed in were aviaries of beautiful Scarlet Macaws and various parrots, toucans, owls and hawks all native to the area. There was one aviary that had two young scarlet macaws that were rescued from homes in San Pedro Sula and they are working towards getting their flying skills up so they can release them into the scarlet macaw population at the mayan ruins. It seems like good work that they are doing.

It was a chilly day and we were down right cold as we walked along.  Yesterday when the air was cool it felt nice, comfortable, like home.. so when I found out that this weather was a cold front from Canada I was actually comforted.. a touch of home.

  1. I am curious to know how Eric wound up wearing a TFC ball cap?

  2. Well.. I think Liam had it first.. from a clothing exchange at his school.. then Eric acquired it from him when Liam was more interested in Flat cap styles.
